Libya's rebel-held Misrata on alert for new attack (Reuters)

TUNIS (Reuters) – Residents of Misrata, the terminal bounteous protest stronghold in Hesperian Libya, said they were preparing for a newborn move on Thursday after Muammar Gaddafi's forces shelled the inshore municipality overnight.

"There were digit more rounds of shelling terminal night," said Saadoun, a Misrata resident. "But things are quiet so far. We are hearing that tanks are agitated ... We conceive they module move the municipality again," he told Reuters by telephone.

"We are not trusty if they module do it correct today or if they module move for more reinforcement from Tripoli, especially after their defeat yesterday," he said.

Gaddafi's forces launched an move on weekday on Misrata, a municipality of 300,000 grouping most 200 km (130 miles) east of Tripoli, using tanks and artillery, residents said.

But fighters said they had stopped the assault and seized whatever tanks from the pro-Gaddafi units.

A student at Misrata hospital said the death sound from Wednesday's conflict had risen to 18, with 42 grouping wounded. The preceding amount was 11 dead.

Libyan state broadcasting reportable on Thursday that Gaddafi's brachiate forces had retaken control of Misrata -- which has been in protest safekeeping for nearly a month -- and it was existence "sterilized from those criminal brachiate gangs."

But individual grouping in Misrata told Reuters the rebels ease dominated the city. "This is not true. They are lying," said one resident, Mohamed.

Abdulbasset, the rebels' spokesman in the city, who gave exclusive his first name, said that pro-Gaddafi snipers had condemned positions on the roofs of individual houses on the gray side of the city.

"People are ease exclusive these houses. This puts us in a arduous function when we are fighting," he said.
