SPCA open house Saturday May 14
The Williams Lake and District Branch of the BC SPCA invites the public to an animal-themed day of fun on Saturday, May 14.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Williams Lake SPCA, 709 Bond Lake Road, Williams Lake.
In addition to featuring pets looking for loving homes, activities at the Williams Lake SPCA open house will include an “ask a vet” booth, education booths, a scavenger hunt and pooch paw painting.
There will also be lunch served, a demo by the Canadian Cane Corso Association, a City of Williams Lake animal control officer information booth and some silent auction items and BC SPCA merchandise for sale.
Hill’s® Science Diet® is partnering with BC SPCA branches across the province to promote adoption of homeless animals during Be Kind to Animals month in May.
“The open house series is an opportunity for people to meet the animals available for adoption and to have fun learning more about how to help animals in the community,” says Lorie Chortyk, general manager of community relations for the BC SPCA. “We are extremely grateful to Hill’s for sponsoring this series to showcase the wonderful animals we have for adoption.

Man accused of stealing dogs from Animal Services
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police arrested a Dismas worker who they say stole a two dogs from Metro Animal Services.
Police say 20-year-old David Bedford was working at MAS on April 25 when he took two Cane Corso dogs. Investigators say the dogs are valued at more than $500.
Bedford is charges with theft by unlawful taking and tampering with physical evidence.
