COLOMBO (AFP) – Sri Lanka asked the United Nations on weekday not to publicize a sociable inform on alleged struggle crimes during the island's ethnic, saying it could set backwards reconciliation efforts.
Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris said UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon should not release the report, compiled by a commission of experts who studied alleged rights abuses and crimes against humans during the struggle which ended in 2009.
"The publication of this inform module drive irreparable alteration to the reconciliation efforts of Sri Lanka. It module alteration the UN grouping too," Peiris told reporters in Colombo.
