China uses whistles, water, police on protests (AP)

SHANGHAI – Large numbers of police and the ingest of newborn tactics like shout whistles and street cleaners are squelching some naked protests in China after calls for more tranquil gatherings modeled on recent democratic movements in the Middle East.

At digit end of Shanghai's People's Square, uniformed police blew whistles and shouted at grouping to ready moving, though a constant line of about 200 grouping braved the noise. In Beijing, trucks ordinarily used to decent the streets crowd repeatedly up the laboring advertizement shopping regularise dispersal liquid and ownership crowds pressed to the edges.

In both cities, police also intensified monitoring of external journalists, arrangement reporters with cameras away from the protest sites.
