Ottawa freezes Kadhafi assets, calls for resignation (AFP)

OTTAWA (AFP) – Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced that Canada was chilling assets of African leader Moamer Kadhafi and his family, and titled on him to resign.

In a statement programme live by television, Harper said Canada would place into gist the sanctions adopted Saturday by the UN Security Council, and go beyond them.

He said that likewise chilling the assets of Kadhafi, his kinsfolk and another associates, Algonquin would freeze every financial transactions with the government in city and another African institutions, including the bicentric bank.

Harper reproached Kadhafi for violating his basic domain to verify the section of his country's citizens, before appealing to him to modify the bloodbath and resign.
